SUPERVISOR, TAX STRATEGY & PLANNING
The Supervisor, Tax Strategy & Planning has the primary responsibility
of developing and monitoring tax planning strategies for Oando
operating entities (in all the subsectors of the Oil & Gas industry).
The job incumbent has responsibility of ensuring the implementation of
the strategies across the company. The objective is to ensure that the
tax liability of the operating entities across board is at the minimal
level within the confines of the applicable tax legislations in each
jurisdiction where Oando operates. This is achieved by conducting
periodic research on tax planning ideas applicable to Oando businesses
(both within and outside Nigeria) and providing strategy documents on
implementation requirements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Participates in the formulation of Oando’s Tax Policy and
implementation strategy. Conduct tax research and develop an
understanding of international tax laws in relation to the Group’s
operations. Identifies tax planning opportunities for Oando operations
within the applicable legislations and ensures there is a clear
understanding of the strategies for their implementation. Develops
models for analyzing the Group’s tax structure and tax risks.
Maintains open lines of communication with all relevant decision
makers and stakeholders on strategic tax planning issues. Develops tax
compliance processes for all taxes related to Oando’s business (both
within and outside Nigeria). Monitors compliance of Oando entities
outside Nigeria with the legislations in their jurisdictions.
Identifies changes in International tax conventions (e.g. OECD) and
provides report on the implication for Oando businesses. Operational
Ensures that within the Oando Group’s Corporate Responsibilities, the
contractual obligations and transactions are strategically planned for
tax purposes. Keeps the Operating Companies informed of changes in tax
and regulatory legislations and/or enactment of new legislations.
Identifies tax risks in contracts to be executed by Operating
companies and recommend necessary amendments to mitigate the risks.
Participates in project planning for operating entities with a view of
identifying and advising on the pertinent tax issues. Reviews and
ensures timely publication of monthly tax bulletin on tax issues
within Oando and quarterly tax news letters on recent happenings
within the Nigerian tax environment, prepared by the Tax Analyst.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Regular reports on tax planning ideas for strategic and operational
activities. Effective implementation and monitoring of tax compliance
processes. Quality and timeliness of tax models, risk analysis and
reports. Timely notification and provision of appropriate guidance on
the application of new Tax laws, guidelines and rules. Quality and
timeliness of Oando’s tax publications.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1st Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or other related area. 3 – 5
years cognate work experience from a reputable organization or Tax
Consulting firm with specialist skill in Tax research and advisory as
added advantage. ACCA, ACA, ACTI are added advantage.

Reports to: Regulatory Affairs & External Communications Manager
Principal Accountabilities:
* To contribute to business sustainability by supporting efforts to shape the business environment with relevant information, issue analysis and advocacy
* To contribute to the achievement of business objectives by maximising the opportunities for success in regulatory engagement
* To provide area-specific communication content that supports our regulatory agenda
* To ensure that Regulatory campaigns and strategies are developed with materials which establish BAT as a trusted partner of regulators and a leading authority on tobacco control issues across Nigeria area
* To collate information from company tools that enables the Regulatory Affairs department to identify, measure and focus engagement activities effectively.
* Set the standard for quality and depth of issue analysis to advance understanding of regulatory issues around the Region
* To provide advocacy that ensures that engagement is relevant to tobacco control thinking, both current and future in order to maximise traction with stakeholders
* To participate in company projects as and when required
* To provide guidance to other functions on regulatory positions
* Support the development of knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues amongst regulatory managers and identified personnel through the provision of tailored packages of relevant material
* Support the anticipation of regulatory issues through effective analysis and communication of trends and potential future tobacco control scenarios
* Maintain and develop the Regulation Management Tool and the Stakeholder Engagement Model as key platforms for managing consistency of regulatory approach across the area
* Define and commission research projects to support specific CORA requirements as necessary
* To assist others, including but not limited to, Management Trainees in the CORA to acquire knowledge related to the function
* Directly support the BATN Regulatory Affairs department, relevant Area CORA Managers and the BATNA CORA team by ensuring that they are up to date with latest developments on regulatory positions
* Directly support BATN Regulatory Affairs department, relevant Area CORA Managers and the BATN CORA team with updates on anticipated Tobacco Control developments as well as immediate response to requests for analysis
* Leverage value of contribution to ensure flow of information on regulatory status in end markets throughout the AME regional network
* Ensure effective relationships with BATN legal resources to manage quality and risk
* Develop and maintain relationships outside of the area and region to ensure availability of accurate, evidence based information on regulatory issues
* To ensure the continuous improvement of BATN’s direct regulatory engagement through the provision of creative advocacy and insightful analysis of tobacco control policy issues as they apply to the NIGERIA area
* To generate creative campaign options for specific issues to develop traction with Regulators/public opinion and/or provide the basis for external communications which may stimulate constructive debate on Tobacco Control issues
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Demonstrates ability to apply a deep understanding and knowledge of the industry to a wide range of situations and play a key role in decisions made
* Demonstrates appreciation of reputation issues and ability to apply in the context of acceptable regulatory campaign tactics.
* Demonstrates understanding of litigation such that risk is minimised (through reference to specialist resource at the right time) and on illicit trade is able to apply deep knowledge to develop appropriate compelling stories for key stakeholders
* Demonstrates full understanding of Group positions, deep knowledge of tobacco control in the real world and ability to apply both to business issues and specific tobacco control challenges.
* Demonstrates effectiveness in engagement, able to build long term relationships, deal with confrontation and yet retain the invitation to dialogue
* Demonstrates understanding of role of external communications in shaping opinion & use of techniques to achieve desired outcome.
* Educated to degree level or preferably beyond
* Ideally 2 – 3 years’ experience working in political lobbying research or the tobacco industry or other commercial activity which requires aptitude for in-depth analysis of issues
* Cross functional appreciation of the business – marketing, operations, CORA, finance, legal
* Attention to detail
* Active interest in tobacco and tobacco control issues, aptitude for absorbing and applying knowledge to the debate
* Cultural sensitivity
* Strong research skills – both desk based and potentially in commissioning research on specific areas

Job Title: Project Manager
The Role:
The project Manager will be based in one of our locations and will be responsible for developing and executing agreed projects in our brewery and factory locations; for the day-to-day operational aspects of projects in these locations; and for maintaining accurate documentations relating to projects under execution.
The Project Manager will also be expected to travel extensively between our locations as the job demands.
The Requirements:
The ideal candidates should have (or meet) the following:
* Minimum of B.sc degree, second-class honours (lower division) in any of the engineering disciplines.
* Minimum of 8 years experience in project management in a Manufacturing/Process environment.
* Project planning skills (including use of Gantt charts).
* Proven experience with tendering for projects; project budgeting and cost control; civil works projects and generally. in completion of capital projects of over N200.000.000.00
* Proven experience working with local and foreign companies.
* Wide knowledge of local contractors for civil and technical works.
* Experience/knowledge of local rules and regUlations; and working with regulatory authorities.
* Experience with automation projects is an advantage.
* Experience in stainless steel welding standards.

* Ability to work with Computer systems and softwares – MS Word. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCad and the Internet.

Job Title: Chief Engineer
Chief Engineer position exists in our subsidiary company. DIL/Maltex based in Agbara, Ogun State. The sourcing of a candidate for the position is therefore on behalf of DIL/Maltex.
The Role:
The Chief Engineer will be based in Agbara and will report to the DIL/Maltex Factory Manager. He will ensure the timely provision of utility services to support production in the factory. In addition, he will be responsible for maintaining all packaging machines, plants, buildings and internal roads in the factory at optimal costs and in line with safety standards.
Specifically, the responsibilities of the Chief Engineer include but are not limited to:
*Ensuring the availability of plants/machinery for productive use at scheduled times.
*Reducing inventory of spare parts to maintain optimal levels for more efficient allocation of financial resources.
*Ensuring daily uninterrupted utility services (electricity, cooling, steam, air, water, Co2) for all operations in the factory.
*Advising the factory on engineering matters to ensure the optimization of internal resources.
*Providing and driving conditions for the health, welfare and safety of employees.
*Executing all major revenue projects and managing the departmental budget.
The Requirements:
* Candidate must possess a minimum of B.Sc degree, second class honours (lower dIvision) in Mechanical. Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
* Minimum of 7 years experience preferably in a FMCG environment.
* Proven experience with local and foreign contractors.
* Wide knowledge of local rules and regulations and proven experience in working with regulatory authorities.
* Experience with automation is an advantage.
* Experience in stainless steel welding standards.
* Experience with set-up of planned maintenance systems.
* Experience with store keeping and purchasing of spares.
* Not more than 45 years of age as at 1st January, 2010.
* Ability to work with Computer systems and softwares – MS Word. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCad and the Internet.
* Good team-player. ”
