JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: GOVERNANCE ADVISOR
LOCATION: ABUJA, NIGERIA
REPORTING TO: GOVERNANCE TEAM LEADER
LINE MANAGEMENT: NONE
GRADE: 7
JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will provide technical and capacity Building support to staff and partners on decentralisation, local governance and citizen’s participation in governance. The post holder will also coordinate the activities of AAN’s Centre for Budget and Policy Advocacy (CBPA), build capacity of staff and other stakeholders in economic literacy & budget related components of programmes, serve as the focal person ensuring the visibility of the Centre and provide support to all committees related to the Centre.
PROGRAMME DUTIES
• Support the governance team in strengthening governance program in the PAPs.
• Support capacity building of staff and partners on key governance thematic focus including, decentralisation and local governance, civic education and public accountability.
• Coordinate, manage and promote the activities of the Budget Centre as it relates to local, national and international work within the framework of the CSP and other international commitments.
• Work with other agencies, nationally and internationally to promote, institutionalise and build clientele for the centre.
• Provide regular report on the activities of the Centre
• Lead on Economic Literacy and Budget Accountability for Governance training programmes.
• Ensure the timely and proper execution of planned activities in line with the Right to Just and Democratic Governance’s objectives
• Serve as Secretary at strategic meetings of the Centre: Advisory Committee, Faculty meetings, and other related meetings
• Contribute to policy briefs, press statements, review and analysis of the annual budget (national state and local government).
• Develop the resource base of the budget by documenting key budget documents and information.
• Coordinate fund raising initiatives for the governance team including the budget Centre.
• Preparation and development of annual budgets in conjunction with Centre’s Director and AAN Management for the Centre in accordance with activities agreed for the year.
• Any other duties as assigned by the line manager
Internal Relationships: Governance Team, Finance team, HR/OD team & AAN team.
External Relationships: Partners, Civil Society Organisations, Bilaterals, multilaterals and relevant government agencies.
